Sixty-Three
Pence Hero On 23rd April 1998 the [British]
Post Office issued a series of stamps celebrating "Heroes of
Comedy". Peter Cook was the 63pence (£0.63) hero. The
set also features Tommy Cooper(20p), Eric Morecambe(26p), Joyce
Grenfell(37p) and Les Dawson(43p).
Whilst protecting the nation from an unseen threat,
Anne T'ing found herself in the proximity of a stamp fair. It's
a long story. . . suffice to say Anne T'ing managed to secure a
limited edition (#28 of 100) set of these stamps. The stamps are,
errm, stamped "Torquay, Devon"; Peter Cook's birthplace.
